Wireless Information and Transmission System Lab were formally established on August 1, 2002, with wireless communication system related technologies as the main research goal.
In recent years, the wireless communication industry has developed vigorously and has become a mainstream industry in the 21st century. The government has established a “Telecom National Science and Technology Plan”, the main goal of which is to integrate the power of various government ministries and organizations to increase the output value of Taiwan’s communication equipment. It reached NT$1 trillion in the year, becoming Taiwan’s third trillion yuan industry and making my country’s communications industry one of the top ten in the world. In addition, with Taiwan’s world-class competitiveness in the semiconductor industry, my country has become the world’s second largest IC design center. Therefore, the “Telecom National Technology Plan” will also be combined with the “System Chip National Technology Plan.” Taiwan has mastered the key chip design technology for wireless communication.
In this context, our laboratory focuses on wireless communication, emphasizing both theoretical research and hardware implementation. The research projects include “wireless communication theory” and “baseband circuit design” in two major areas:
Wireless communication theory research:
- OFDM and Multi-carrier Systems: Channel Estimation, Timing Synchronization, Frequency Offset Estimation, Interference Cancellation, MIMO, PAPR, Space Time/Space Frequency Coding, Adaptive Modulation, Resource Allocation.
- Cooperative Networks: Power Allocation, Distributed Detection.
- Spread Spectrum Communications: Acquisition and Tracking, Smart Antenna, Power Control, Rake Receiver, Interference Cancellation, Resource Management, Spread Code Design, Channel Estimation.
- Medium Access Control (MAC) Schemes for Data/Wireless Networks.
